I had the privilege of being a guest speaker at the WeQual Rising Leaders event for the Americas. I was able to share some of my career lessons, hear some of the participant’s stories and answer their questions. What a great group of women! Their engagement left me so energized. Some of the lessons I shared were: ·      Evaluate career opportunities based on the portfolio of experiences they can provide, not just the title or reporting structure. ·      Identify gaps in your experience and look for opportunities that can complement and supplement your skillset. ·      Surround yourself with a network of mentors and sponsors who can provide guidance and advocate for your career progression. ·      Develop transferable skills like analytical thinking, curiosity, and the ability to manage uncertainty. ·      Balance ambition with personal fulfillment by establishing non-negotiable boundaries and integrating work and family commitments. ·      Don't self-limit or let fear of failure hold you back from applying for roles you are qualified for. ·      Be your own advocate and raise your hand for opportunities that align with your career goals. ·      Embrace challenges and failures as opportunities for growth and learning in your career journey.

When it comes to prioritizing collaboration, embracing emotional intelligence, pursuing self-awareness, and championing growth, women leaders are charging the way forward! Leading Transformation: Strategies for Simplifying and Optimizing In my leadership journey, balancing necessary complexities with simplification has been challenging, especially during transformations that involve shifting operating models, implementing new technologies, and changing ways of working. Thriving in the messy and unknown is essential, but so is providing clarity and focus.   Avoiding Unnecessary Complexity We sometimes overcomplicate things without realizing it. Light-hearted examples include: ◾ Meeting Marathon: A project meeting needs a pre-meeting, a post-meeting, and a meeting to discuss the next meeting. ◾ Feedback Fiasco: Simple feedback requests turning into an array of questionnaires. ◾ Login Labyrinth: Tech solutions promising simplicity but requiring a complex login process.    These examples highlight how unintentional complexities can creep in, especially when seeking clarity in a world of complex transformation, emphasizing the need for simplicity. Simplifying & Optimizing ◾ Simplifying focuses on essentials, eliminating distractions, prioritizing impactful tasks, and maintaining steady progress. ◾ Optimizing refines actions for the best outcomes by aligning tasks with broader goals and improving efficiency.   When to Simplify, When to Optimize Understanding when to simplify and when to optimize helps manage energy and resources during significant changes. Simplifying is crucial during intense change, maintaining momentum and clarity. As stability returns, optimizing allows for detailed process improvements, enhancing overall performance and outcomes. The decision to simplify or optimize depends on the transformation stage and the specific needs at that time.   Your Thoughts? How do you handle these challenges? As I sat down to reflect this week, I found myself immersed in the familiar push and pull of transformation. Like many leaders, I wrestle with the dual pressures of meeting today's expectations while planning for a reimagined future—an HBR article captures the essence: "Leadership is about wrestling with the twin pressures of performing today and transforming for tomorrow." - (https://lnkd.in/g5NV8u9t) Some weeks, the load feels heavier, the road more winding, and the exhaustion sets in. Yet, it's in the daily performing work—those routine tasks where we're tempted to 'just get things done'—that I find the most fertile ground for transformative change. Each decision, each interaction is an opportunity to practice what we're striving to become.   It's through these small, daily efforts that I witness the subtle signs of transformation taking root. Whether it’s adopting a new communication style, including diverse perspectives in decision-making, these changes in our day-to-day operations are the true test and bring our transformation goals to life. And it's these breakthrough moments—the small, yet palpable signs of change—that recharge my spirit and remind me why I am passionate about transforming and building anew.   Here are some strategies I'm actively practicing and learning from: 1. Engagement: Encouraging rich dialogues that go beyond daily operations. In our drive for transformation, we focus on what we achieve and why we do it, aligning our actions with a purpose-driven approach. 2. Recognition: Taking time to recognize and celebrate our small wins, which motivates us to continue pushing boundaries and innovating. 3. Transparency: Being open about the challenges we face. This honesty fosters a trusting environment where everyone feels safe to share ideas and concerns. 4. Empowering Teams: By empowering our team, giving them the freedom to explore and expand their capabilities, we ensure that every member feels valued and vital to our journey.   What practice have you implemented that has significantly helped you manage transformation more effectively?
